Golfers get ready! ![]() The County Classic is organized by Bob Powers, Bob Snyder and Gene Ball. Shown here (l to r) Bob Snyder and Bob Powers proudly sport their pink polo shirts in support of the hospital’s breast cancer initiative. Powers has been involved in organizing the event all twenty years. The Madison County Hospital Foundation is already well underway with plans for the 2009 County Classic golf outing, held on Wednesday, August 12 and Thursday, August 13 at the London Country Club. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the event. The two-day golf event offers two different formats. The Wednesday format is a four-person shamble. The day begins at 12:30 p.m. and costs $100 per person. The fee includes 18 holes of golf, carts, beverages on the course, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dinner and an opportunity to win over $1,200 in prize money. Thursday’s format is a six person scramble with your choice of a 7:30 am or 1:30 pm shotgun start. The cost is $80 per person and includes golf, carts, lunch, dinner and beverages on the course. There will also be unique chipping and putting contests. To play both days, the cost is $160 per person. Again this year, the proceeds from the event will support the Foundation’s Breast Cancer Initiative and be used to expand educational, diagnostic and treatment services in Madison County.
